The engineer reported as follows: Awaitoa Riding: Tho permanent roadman in this riding lias boon employed cleaning out tlie watercourse throughout, (he mam road and usual maintenance work on tho 'roads. 1 anticipate getting an early start this month with tho work of strengthening some of tho bridges'in (his riding, namely JJiindac’s and iJunt’a bridges, also with th<> erection of a concrete trough on Spolman’s hill. Coal Creek Hiding: The roadman recently engaged for .this riding »9 ■ now occupying the lujiwe, just' erected by ihe council* ut tlio junction of London s , and (he Ridge roads, and is employed ani pro,in"- the roads and Will fence tho 4; acres adjacent to the house. Wangaoao 'hiding: Several bridges and concrete culverts in this, riding have been attended to during the month, repairs have boon olfooted to the bridge on Pollock s road, also to a bridge on Creamery road. As instructed 1 have had tho home trough at Rmiraai shifted and a quantity of large boulders and metal carted tor widening iho' junction of the roads. Mttngapiko--1 piko Hiding: The roads in ibis riding are £i}l in good order, with tho exception of Apiii-Norse.vond road, which' is now being metalled; the amount of metal carted by motor tirick in this locality for the month i. 353 cubic yards and has been carted mneh cheaper than metal previously obviced by. horse teams. Pohangina Ridhv: Tlio council’s team’s employed in this riding have finished metalling and patching the main road and also the carting for" Fin ms road, where a considerable amount' ol moral was required, also riverbed shingle, to raise the road and .construct tlio bridge adjacent to tlio school, iho 1 em.iaee in iho township recently purchased by the council is now occupied bv._ the permanent roadman.
