HOSPITAL LEVIES.
ANOTHER SYSTEM WANTED. I
Hospital matters were dealt .with by the Pohangina County Council at its meeting on Saturday. A letter was rend from the Hospital Commission; asking the opinion of the Council on any subject matters of the order ol reference which affect local authority. The chairman (Or. Smart) said that at the recent conference hold in I<eliding a resolution had been passed strongly protesting against the proposed hospital board's levy in its application to the country districts as agamst the towns. The Council decided to support the conference's decision and communicate with the chairman of the commission and the Minister of Public Health protesting against the unfairness of the levy It'was also decided to write to the Pallnerston North Hospital Board asking it to curtail expenses as much as possible. p , ■ ,«'/ ii • ' i ■■■- The chairman stated that ere long the hospital boards would have to hmi some other system of raising money than by calling upon local bodies to supply their finances.
