The American authorities have ordered the evacuation of the white residents in the Paoting-fu district. Pekin -.reports state that 10.COO troops arrived as a bodyguard for the Emperor. The population have lost, their heads' and are storming hospitals and foreign hotels lor refuge. Bittiness is at a standstill. '{ London military circles-regard the situation as serious. Tuan Chi Jui is credited with being monarchical. Imperial ambitious, and the most powerful man in Chinn. Ihe Emperor is a. mere puppet. It is believed that the Legation forces arc sufficiently powerful to protect the English residents.— (United Service.)
