KOSY. PAULINE FREDERICK IN "PAID IN FULL." Paulino Fredorick, the famous emotional picture star, is showing to-day at the Kosy Thoutre, in the Paramount film version of Eugene Walter's famous play, " Paid in Full." j\Jiss Frederick has (ho role of the patient wife of a shiftless cleric, whose non-progressiveness keeps her in constant poverty. When he commits a theft the husband does not hesitate to send his wife to the man he has stolen from, caring little whether she sacrifices her honour to save him from gaol. Put she finally adjusts the matter, and when she quits him tor ever, he betrays his coward iso by committing suicide. Put the wife ultimately finds happiness in the love of a worthy man. The Billy West comedy, " Her Tonclorfeet," is a clever picture and the other supporting pictures quite consistent. PALACE. SESSUE lIAYAKAWA IX "THE GREY HORIZON." Sessue Ilayakawa's latest picture, " The Grey Horizon," rests upon a secure dramatic foundation that is well worth while. There is an intensity to the scenes and situations which build to a climax, the force of which cannot be denied. The characterisation is deeply sympathetic, and together with the plot, they hold the spectator's attention from first to last,, Ilayakawa is an actor who always makes his work compelling. There is in his repressive methods a reserve strength which is always felt by the observer. The result is his audiences never lose interest. The drama is based upon vindication of a woman's honour, and though there is very little love element, such a factor is not missed. "HAYSEEDS* BACK-BLOCK SHOW." "We got up a agrikulchural show at Stoney Creek, and .Mum she wanted me tew rite tew ther Covemor tew get him tew ktim up an open it-f-but I scd no I cud talk better then i can rite, and by cripes i was rite—sew we wont down an' seen the governor an he sed we was the backbone of ther country, and by cripes he was rite two." So said Dad in his letter in "The IlayseedV Back-blocks Show," which is the fourth and last of the well known linyseeds scries of Australian life productions. The farewell tour of the Hayseeds, with their inimitable humour, will" be hailed with regret. They have made many friends. EVERYBODY'S. MARGUERITA KlSrtffiß AS "IMPOSSIBLE SUSAN." Marguevi',, i?i scner nils no t, been seen in many P'.oturCß in our town, but in America she is, regarded as one of the most popular of serpen actresses. In "Impossible ■JUsiUi" in the title rol&Marguerita Fischer is seen as a girl of the woods who promises to become a real beautv and incidentally the idol of her old grandfather. Her wildness, which gave her the name " Impossible Susan," caused some of the severeminded women of the village serious thought, and when her old grandfather dies Susan is sent to an aged aunt who is housekeeper to a woman hater—a cynical bachelor. From here the story develops rapidly—a niece—an adventuress comes into the story and Susan (on account of her beauty) is employed to put the siren out of favour. How Susan wins out makes a good story. A Keystone comedy, a Swiss scenic and topical wilt also be shown.
