CAILLAUX ON TRIAL.

Received February 19, 9.35 a.m. PARIS, Feb. 17. AT. Bourgeois, President of the Senate, presided to-day at the opening of the trial of M. Caillaux before the Senate. The procedure will follow that of tli(> French criminal courts. The acensations will ho lirst read, and then the accused will he examined. Afterwards the evidence of both sides will ho hoard.
The accusation and charges against M. Caillaux are:—(l) That since the declaration of war lie worked against the external security of the State by manoeuvres and machinations; (2) ol having intelligence with the enemy, thereby assisting the enemy’s military cause.
The trial is likely lo last four months. I 1 will prove to he one of the historic trials'of the world. The whole of the recent history of France will he reviewed.
