ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
FALL UNDER CART. H. E. Grifliths, son of Mr W. E, Griffiths, cordial manufacturer, of Palmerston North, met with a painful accident on Saturday. It appears that Griffiths was in the act of mounting the step of one of his father’s delivery carts when he slippe] and fell, the wheel of the vehicle passing over and fracturing a leg. He was admitted to the hospital. where he is progressing as well as can bo expected. (Peb Pbkss Association.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 9. William J. Plunlcet, 47, a well-known farmer, was drowned in the Oretai river on Sunday while bathing. A companion endeavoured to rescue him, but was dragged under the water. When the body was recovered- life was extinct. A month ago a child of the deceased’s was drowned in a sheep dip.
