Dr. T. L. Parr has been appointed rcsi dent surgeon at the Nelson Hospital. Mr William Morgan, formerly Mayor o: Newmarket, and prominent in Aucklam Masonic and musical circles, is dead, at tin ago of 83. Mr Wm. Callender, late general manage) of the Bank of New Zealand, who has just r- tired, was farewelled by the staff of tin hank at Wellington on Thursday afternoon On behalf of the staff throughout the Do minion, Mr I). S. Thompson, the Wei lington branch accountant, presented Mi and Mrs Cullender'with a silver afternoon tea service. Mr Martyn Abraham, who is about tc join the legal firm of Messrs Hankins ami Lockhart Fitzhcrbert, was admitted as i barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court by llis Honour Mr Justice Stringer at Wellington on Friday last. He lef: Now Zealand in 1912 to study law at Cam bridge, and after obtaining his degree wacalled to the English Bar at the Middle Temple, Loudon, on May 2, 1917. Mi Abraham served for 4i years in the Imperial Army, 21, years of which was spent in France.
The Rev. Father Bowc, who has been the Roman Catholic parish priest at Dan novirko for some years past, and who har been transferred to Wellington, was farewelled by the Dannovirko congregation yesterday morning and presented with a purse of sovereigns, there being many expressions of regret at his departure from thi district. He was also the recipient of a purse of sovereigns from the Pukehinau parishioners. The Rev, Father Bowo’s successor at Dannovirko will bo (ho Rev. Father Dailey, who was recently a chaplain with tlie New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
