LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT.
ELDERLY COUPLE INJURED. A si-lions accident happened this after noon on the level crossing at Monrad street on the ji’oxfoii line. As the Napier express for Wellington approached (he crossing a vehicle was noticed crossing the line, bid although the train was pulled up promptly it struck the vehicle. The occupants, Miami Mrs Sandford, of Monrad street, were ibrown’ out. and both were seriously injured. The vehicle was smashed and the horse was decapitated and disembowelled. Mr and -Mrs Sandlcusl, who are an elderly couple, were removed to the hospital. On inquiry at, the hospital at half-pti'-v three o’clock this afternoon we were, in formed that Mrs Sandford was in a preeari ons condition, but Mr-,Sandford s condition! was not so verv serious
