FATHER O'DONNELL'S ARREST.

! It is understood the charges against Father O'Donnell, the Australian chaplain, whose arrest was cabled on the 18th, allege that he attended the Sinn Fein Convention in uniform. It is also stated he dined with Griffith, the acting-president of tho Sinn Fein. Father O'Donnell, in an interview, stated he visited Dublin to consult a specialist arid subsequently visited friends and relations in various parts of Ireland and soon discovered ho was being followed. He realised ho had struck a listening post in a Killarhey hotel, when he began to talk to a man who professed deafness. He discussed current affairs, including the strike and Britain's failure to solve the Irish problem and chose the"subject carefully, in view of the fact that thnre wee listeners in the room. O'nonn"ll met more mvsterteus strangers in Cork who were anxious to converse with him.
