DOWN THE LINE.
(Feom Oub Own Cobbebpondent.) OTAKI, April 22. Mr» Ben Heap, who has been in indifferent health for some time past, has again entered the Otaki hospital for a further operation. Mr Harold Cockrell ia at present in the Auckland district and to-morrow joins the ranks of the Benedicts. Tho death is announced of Mrs McMicklo, wife of the Rev J. A. McMicklo, principal of tho To Auto College. The late Mi’s McMicklo was a resident of Otaki for eomo time, and was greatly respected Mr Bvron Brown (chairman of tho peace celebrations’ committee) has made arrangements for tho Silver Mission Band, one of tho leading musical organisations, in tho North Island, to visit Otaki on two days of tho peace celebrations. Tho _ bandsmen, numbering about thirty, will arrive in Otaki on tho Saturday night, entertain tho puimo on Sunday and Monday, and return to tho city in tho evening. . A dance was held at tho Kiosk on Sau-r----day night and was largely attended. All present spent a most enjoyable time. Quito a large number of Ixiwlors visited Otaki on Monday and took part in the tournament promoted by tho local club. Tho holiday passed off quietly in this district, the main attraction being the sports at To Horo. Several residents made a trip to the Fcilcling races, while a number visited Wellington. The Otaki _ seaside resort was largely patronised by visiotrs, nil of whom appeared delighted with their visit.
Coin, Clarice (M.M.), of Otaki, has purchased a farm adjoining Mr C. I; Harkness’ holding at Ohau, and takes possession on tho Ist of next month.
I Among those recently returned from Egypt are Privates Len Murray and Arthur Holder, both of whom loft early in the campaign. , Tho Wanderer Football Club (Levin) held its annual meeting last week Mr R. r»Gardener was elected president. Tho death occurred at Otaki on Sunday of Mrs Jos. Noble, an old and respected settler. Messrs Will, George. Jim, Con, Victor and Horace Noble arc sons, while the daughters are Mesdamos A. A. Bright, Nat Williams, 'Henry Bovan, and Miss Mona Noble.
