THE CRAMPTON COURTMARTIAL.
(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, Feb. 21. The Crampton court-martial was continued this afternoon, when at the close of evidence tendered in the eighth charge, addresses were delivered by counsel for «C----cused and the prosecutor. At the conclusion the ninth charge was commenced, tn which it is alleged that Lieutenant Crampton permitted unnecessary force to be used to compel Private Badger to drill. Giving .evidence, Badger alleged that he wax kicked by Sergeant Smith and also punched. Witness also alleged that accused had used bad language and struck him under the wrist with a cane. During driil a rifle was strapped to witness' wrist. To Mr Loughnan: Witness was a conscientious objector, and he laid hifl rifle down because of conscientious objections. lie did not complain of any injuries. Accused gave evidence, and denied that Badger was lacked or punched. The court-martia] will be continued tomorrow
"NOT GUILTY." ACCUSED HONOURABLY ACQUITTED. (Ffcß FHIRB ABBOOIATICm.I WANGANUI, Fel). 22. The Court-martial on Lieutenant Crampton concluded this morning, when the two remaining charges were heard. The Court found Lieut. Crampton not guilty on each of the eleven charges and honourably acquitted him of the ' same.
