FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
ORIENT LODGE. The Orient Lodge held its ordinary meeting on Friday evening, 22nd February, llro. Buck, N.G., presiding over a very fair attendance. The sick visitors reported having visited <->\v;ml members who were on the sick list. It was decided to enter a team lor the cribbagc tournament, P.O. Pro. Harris being elected captain. A special meeting is to be held on Friday, 28th February, to discuss remits to the (3rand Lodge session, and it is hoped that every member will endeavour to attend'. During the evening one new member was initiated into the Order, and two more wvrv proposed. The principal letter in the correspondence v as from the Grand Lodge, pointing out that the centenary of the Order was on the 26th April. It was pointed out what t'reat progress the Order bad made." Started by five Englishmen in Washington Lodge. No. 1, Baltimore, it lias now 17,098 Lodges spread o\er the whole civilised world, with a membership of 2,230,231. The annua! income of the Society is £4,022,230, and in the last 87 years it has expended C 35,940,489, which alone goes to show the amount of assistance given by the Order. A record such as this is one to ho proud of, and it is hoped that every member will make an effort to he present at a gathering to be held to celebrate the event.
