The To ICniti Racing Club bold Its annual meeting on Saturday last. Tbo principal ovont, the To Kniti Cup, was won by the Waikato horse Munster, which defeated the favourite, Royal Irish, by a neck, the latter being very unlucky, losing several lengths at the barrier through getting caught in the tapes. During tin* last week or two the fame of Desert Gold has crept, as it spread with added lustre over Iho world, into many remote corners, even into the seals of Biblical learning. In a New Plymouth Sunday school the little ones were imbibing the principles of a certain lesson, in which occurred a story relating to gold. Some importance attached to this gold, it was a strong point in the story, so the teacher said ; “James! Will yon remember about the goldr 1 ” Little Jimmy ; “Please teacher. Yes, teacher.” Teacher: “Mow will you remember about the gold?” Little Jimmy: “Please teacher, because dad was ‘on’ Desert Gold.” The teacher was satisfied, and the lesson continued.
