CHIEF GOVERNMENT ENGINEER RESIGNING. Yesterday’s Wellington Post states: Mr Evan Parry, Chief Government Electrical Engineer, lias resigned Ids position to take up an important position in the Old Country, The Minister for Public Works (Sir William Fraser) stated ye.-tenlay morning that ho had nothing to say on the mat ter at present, but would make a statement to Parliament. In connection with the foregoing, it is understood that representations will bo made by Chambers of Commerce to the Government urging the retention of Mr Parry’s services. This is considered most vital in the interests of tho Dominion in view of the constructive programme of State electric works in contemplation. Mr Parry has had a very wide experience as an electrical engineer, and it is felt that every endeavour should be made to retain his services for the Dominion.
