ENTERTAINMENTS.

PALACE. CHINAMAN AS HERO. A Chinese actor bn the screen as an outstanding character is rather .unusual. There is; one in the Triangle drama, “Little' Rod Decides,” which is now being shown at the Palace and in which Barbara Connolly makes a charming “Little Red," This picture is sweetly pretty and contains sufficient humour to relieve the pathetic story of the little orphan left among strangers. Episode nine of “The Double Cross" is a good chapter. REX BEACH. Ro.v Beach as a story teller reached the zenith of In's fume with novels dealing with life under wild and primitive conditions. His first “high society” novel, “The Auction Block,’’ created a sensation, for Re>; Beach dwelt with the problems of modem city life in the same bold and vivid fashion as he had treated his Alaskan life studies. “The Auction Block” lias been picturlsed by the gigantic now film-produc-ing. company, the “Goklwyn,” and it is an amazing maserpiece. “The Auction Block’ is in eight reels, and will bo shown for three nights, commencing to-morrow night at tho Palace. As an added attraction, Burns and Lo Clerc, novelty mat dancers, will introduce their new act, which is something quite out of tho ordinary, The vaudeville act will only be staged on Thursday and Friday, as the artists are booked for Auckland on the Monday' following. The box plan is now open at Hague’s. KOSY. A GOOD WORLD FILM. The young doctor was so much in love with her that ho insisted in saving her from the .sinful life which, by the way, she had never led. This is one of the loading aspects of the World play at present showing at flu' Rosy, entitled “The Spurs of Sybil,” with- Alice Brady in the lead.
