(Pen Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 10. A ileputu tioji re the Upper Gorge Bridge waited upon the Minister of I’nhlio Works this morning. The Mayor of Palmerston (Mr J. A. Nash), speaking for the deputation, urged the Minister to give a- subsidy of ill for ill on structural wooden improvements or concrete. The Minister announced he would give a subsidy for wooden improvements, but is iirst. considering the concrete proposals as outlined by Mr Toogood, the engineer. The Minister also said he favoured a board of control being set up to look after the bridges and road, and a conference of the local bodies will be held on October 16 at Palmerston North.
