Two rinks from the Newtown Bowling Club visited Otaki on Saturday, when on points, the local club proved victors by 82 to 76, but on games Newtown led bv 3 to 2. One game was declared a draw. Afternoon tea added to the day's enjoyment. Mr C. Bauld, the district's representative of the Wellington Acclimatisation .Society, has received advice from tho Crown Land Ollice that, as no native is in lawful occupation -of any part of the Horowhentta Lake, no native can fish for trout without ii license without committing an oft'enea. The (ishing rights preserved to the native owners over the lake are rights to fish for eels, flounders, mullet, and all fresh-water fish except salmon and trout, The advice further states that (idling for trout by Ivimmaiis will not interfere with the na- % lives' lights.
