SHANNON.

The' adjourned meeting of the Shannon Borough Council was held last night. Present: The Mayor, Crs. Spencer, Farglier, Carter, Gardner, Hook, Gunning, Moynilian and Richardson. A letter was received from the sanitary contractor, resigning his position. -The resignation was accepted. The sanitation committee reported that they had made arrangements with J. McPherson to carry on the work. The Mayor referred to the gravel in the river, and slid that it. was one of the greati'l. assets of the- town. It was decided to write to the solicitor to the Municipal Association for his opinion as to the ownership of ilje gravel in the Otara .stream, in such portions of that stream that runs through the Borough area. On the motion of Or. Spencer and the Mayor, it was resolved that the clerk write to the county contractors notifying them that their temps are using the water channels for break purposes, and to discontinue the practice and also repair damage already done. The By-laws Committee (the Mayor, C is. Richardson and Moynihan) reported that after long deliberations on the by-laws, they recommended to the Council the bylaws of the Otaki Town Board as being the most suitable for Shannon.
I The rest of the evening was spent by ’the Council adopting and making netVssjiry allevalions to the by-laws, and the meeting was adjourned till Monday night to further consider same,
