LONDON ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS CLOSING. MR BONAR LAW ON REPRISALS. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. Received October 18, 8.35 a.in. LONDON, Oct. 17. The London County Council is closing the city elementary schools during the last week in October in view of the possibility of air raids. Mr Bnnur Law, in answer to a question whether reprisals would be deferred until (lie air ministry was established, said “No!” General Smuts had clearly stated the Government’s policy. It is our intention to employ aeroplanes over German towns, as far as the military needs make machines available. THEY DREAD THE RETURNING BOOMERANG. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. Received October 18,-10.50 a.m. BERNE, Oct. 17. Several Gorman newspapers significantly doubt the wisdom of air raids on open towns. The Munich Post urgently demands an agreement by all belligerents to desist from a practice which only hardens the victims to the war spirit.
