FOOTBALL.
Tim football season was opened on Saturday with a scratch game between High School and Priates. The gamo was very fast from the beginning, the IT rates 'plaving with the wind in their favour during the first spell and led by Bto niII, Rose and Diedricli scoring. (> n resuming play High School succeeded in equalising, Fleming getting over the line and K. Hodder converting, while Iv, Low following up a cross kick scored near the corner just before time was called. The kick at the goal failed. Mr Proud refereed. High School Seconds also tried conclusions with Pirates Seconds, the former winning by 3 points (a try by M. Harris) to nil. Mr T. Vernon controlled the game.

Tbe game was well contested, the visitors snatching victory just on the close of time. Antodeo scored two tries, one of which was converted. Hardiugham kicked a penalty goal for the winners. LONDON, May H. Yorkshire bent the New Zealanders at Leeds I»v 1!) points to 8. The Yorkshires showed superiority outside the scrum which gave them the victory. Newman and Pilkingtoii secured tries for the New Zealanders and Langford converted one.
