The man who was assaulted was one of the three recent ar. rivals from Christchiuch, who, it alleged have been behaving in a reprehensible manner w.'tn young girls. They bear by no means the best of reputations, and one of their escapades came to the knowledge of a man whose, instincts led him to adopt the mean's described above of giving the offender * leseo.i.
