Mr McLaren promised that tlu? conference on September 15 would bo as free as possible, and asked the local association to prepare a memorandum as to how the fund should bo held and administered, and how • far they shoudd go in the way of reciprocity and federation, Mr Johnstone, the loc'id president, expressed the general view of the association that Otago is definitely committed to local control, the moneys having been raised on that understanding. A sitbcommittee will be set up to go into the' matters prior, to the conference.
