FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB'S MEETING. CONCLUDING DAY. MANIAROA SECURES MANCHESTER HANDICAP. POSTILLION OROUA STAKES. The Feilding Jockey Club's meeting was brought to a conclusion yesterday in fineweather, when there was again a large attendance. Consequent on the rain the previous night the going was a trifle heavy, which would account for the slow times recorded. Maniaroa easily accounted for Manchester Handicap, while Postillion, although meeting with interference rounding the turn for home, had no difficulty in settling the opposition: he was in a class by himself. Mr W. H. Hartgill (judged and Mr R. H. Skipwith (starter) got through their duties in their usually efficient manner, while Mr Henrys 1 adjustments were productive of some excellent finishes. Mr McMahon, chief stipendiary steward, wa* present, but with the exception of cautioning a couple of riders for the careless handling of their mounts, had an easy day. The management of the fixture was distinctly creditable to all concerned, there not being the slightest hitch to mar the proceedings. There were large fields in nearly all the events, and the number of starters in the Hack Scurry—27—is a record for the course. The totalisator staff had a busv time, the sum of £18,787 being put through the machines, making a total of £35.912, as against £35,551 for the corresponding meeting last year. Appended are details of the racing :

Time, 2.1 3-5. All the horses carded started in the York Stakes, Rewi Poto, who finished fourth on the first day, being sent but a good favourite. From an indifferent start Ml. Victoria was the first to become prominent, and, with Pursefiller, carried on the running to the home turn, where the field closed up. At the distance Rewi Poto threw out a challenge, and going on won with a good bit in hand by three-parts of a length, heads separating Mt. Victoria and Coldstream. Black Lupin was fourth and Chillies sixth.

Square Deal and Ladify were withdrawn I from the >iikau Hack Handicap, leaving 13 to face the tapes. Gold Soult and Allan Doone were the favourites. From the barrier rise Quo Vadis at once took up the running-, his nearest attendant being Gold Soult. and this pair showed way to the straight, where Master Achilles and Orleans came through. It was an exciting race to the post, the. winner turning up in Orleans, who is trained by W. Tatham, the good-looking son of Conqueror paying his supporters a good price. Roumania \va,s fourth and Gold Soult fifth. Of the eight starters in the Cheltenham Hurdles The Rover and Player carried most money. The horses moved off in line, Lea puki streaking away at a great rate, and quickly put a lot, of daylight between himself and the field. Passing the stand he was followed by Glenorchy, The Rover. Flingot and Makiri. The positions were much the same excepting that Glenorchy came to grief, his rider escaping injury. The Rover and Timothy set sail.after Leapuki, but gained little ground, and gave I way in turn to Aruake and Player, and this pair fought out a goo draoe for second

honours. The winner, Leapuki, strolled in with about six lengths to spare. The next in order w< re Flingot, The Rover, Timothy and Makiii.

There were seven starters in the Manchevster Handicap, Portraiture, Kimbombi ind Victoris declining their engagements. Maniaroa was the elect of backers. The ■start was an even one, Guiding Way being he first to find His legs, and showed the way passing the stand to Peroneal and General Madero, the others close up. Along the back General Webb took up the running with Guiding Way, Peroneal handy. With heads turned for home the two firstmentioned were still in the lead, but at the distance Maniaroa came through, and easily settling Guiding Way won by two lengths, a length separating second and third. Then followed Passadena, General Webb, Manawakaha and General Madero.

Waiaio was the only withdrawal from the Rongotea Hack Hurdles, and of the 13 starters Sir Donald was made favourite. As they passed the stand Captain Macky was showing the way to Sir Donald and Stagnant. Ruaparaha fell at the fence in front of the stand, O'Connell escaping injury. Very little alteration took place along the back. Approaching the home bend Sir Donald headed Captain Macky, Stagnant and Master Strowan also coming to fight, but failed to get on terms with the Awapuni-trained Sir Donald, who won by a length and a half from Stagnant, Master Strowan a good third. Then followed Aratiatia, Captain Macky, Roseblush, Waiwetu, Vigilant, Lady Strowan and The Diver.

Only four horses were saddled up for the Oroua Stakes, Rewi Poto and Bertrada being scratched. Bold Stroke was first out, and led to the bend, where Price gave Postillion his head, and going on won in hollow fashion by two lengths from Bold Stroke, Astor a poor third.

Twenty-seven horses were saddled up for the Maiden Scurry, Kahumangu being favourite. The start was a good one. Royal Mary and Mary Kilcheran were prominent to the straight, where Ladogeur challenged the leaders, and in a good setto won by three-parts of a length from Ararat, Hushabye close up third. Combustion was fourth, Kahumangu fifth and Formaliter sixth, the others close up. A successful meeting was brought to a conclusion with the Railway Welter, backers sorting out Birkful, but there was a lot of money for Princess Moutoa and Gazette. Alces and Victoris were in the van for three-parts of the journey, when Princess Moutoa took charge, winning easily by a length and a half. The favourite, Birkful, never looked dangerous. Alces was fourth, Birkful fifth, and Elevate last. C. Price had a royal time, piloting five winners during the two days' racing. W. Adams two, and R. Reed, Nodder, A. Oliver, J. O'Connell, H. Young, Emerson, W. Bell, Edwards, Batten one win apiece.
