ROBBERY UNDER ARMS.
SEN SAT lON A L AFFAIR IN WANGANUI. On Saturday evening a young man named George James Brown, who lives with hia patents in Sergeant street, Wanganui. was assaulted and robbed of £2 7s 6d. It appears that young Brown was engaged at the Druids' Hall, where a dance was held until after midnight. He left the Hall shot-th-eater midnight, and proceeded along Bell street with a friend. At Guy ton street they parted, Brown proceeding towards his homo along Giiyton street, riding a bicycle. lie did not see anyone until he reached a spot two chains beyond where the railway line crosses Guyton street Extension. At this locality he was riding slowly on account of some new metal on the road. Suddenly two men pounced upon him, pulled I him off his machine and demanded money. I One of the assailants had a revolver, which I was pointed at Brown. The revolver was j then pointed in another direction and fired, i Brown informed them that he had no money. Both thereupon rushed at him and , knocked him down. One man held him I while the other struck him on the face. ! He lost consciousness, and on coming round I the men had gone and £2 7s 6d previously iin his pockets had been taken. His watch and chain were not taken. Brown at once I returned and reported the matter to the i police. His face was then covered with blood, and there was a lump on one side of his face. The police returned to the spot with Brown and it was seen that ' a struggle h*d taken place on the road. One of the meti was wearing a black mask. Brown had a good view of both men. as the night \tas fairly light.
