MEETINGS AND OTHER GATHERINGS.

' "THE FIGHTING PARSON." Svdney's most famous Anglican clergyman, Rev. R. B. S. Hammond, is aptly nicknamed "The Fighting Parson." in this social reform work he is tireless. His conversion to the prohibition cause has been gradual. By birth and upbringing a moderate, he became, by force of circumstances on abstainer, and a temperance worker. Next ho was an ardour advocate of Stat© control, which system, by the way, enabled the Russian Government to enforce prohibition throughout the country with grand moral results since war broke out. Mr Hammond went so far as to prepare plans and drafts of Bills for State- control, but finally went over to the ranks of the Prohibitionists. Mr Hammond is nothing if not humorous, and makes a powerful appeal to mon everywhere. He speaks next Friday in the Opera House.
