MANAWATU CLUB'S TOURNEY. Thoro were some surprises in the second round of the championship, notably the defeat of the Auckland champion, W. 15. Oolbeck, bv the voting Hawkc's Bay player, Hugh Crosse, and a decisive victory at that. Ekstodt put up a good fight with J. Gross, and 11. Gillies and A. Seifert had ft keen game, the latter winning by a small margin. Hugh Crosse, who is a Wanganui Collegiate School boy, besides his success in the championship, won tho No. 1 bogey, with the very fine score of 4 up. A. Pavitt, a local player, being second with 2 up. In the stroke competition the results were very close. P L. Sim, with a nett 73 was winner, with C. Tjouisson (the club's president) and C. Kennedy (ox-champion Napier Club) tieing for second place, with 74 nett each. ,1. Cross and A. Ek sted t were each 77, and T. "Crosse E. Fryer, W. E. Knight, and G. N. Pharazyn 78 each, J. Strang, P. A. McHardy. F. 11. Cooke and J. E. Cross each returning 79. To-day (Thursday) the No. 2 bogey is j being played in the morning, and also tho semi-finals of the championship. In tho afternoon the 4^ball match is to be played, and on Friday, the finals of the championship over 35 holes.
