BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS.

(Pn Puss Association) WELLINGTON. July 26. A Bible- iii-Schools League deputation waited on the Minister for Education yesterday, and urged that the people ehould be given the right to decide for themselves whether Bible reading should be given in •ehools. Rev. John Paterson, of Christchurch, said the New Souths Wales system worked without friction, and was a pronounced success. It was thfct system they wanted in New Zealand. Hon. James Allen eaid petitions had been received, and would have to be considered. He thought the secular system must be maintained, but he wanted the question of the referendum settled by Parliament. He pointed out that the Bill only asked that people should decide the matter, and if this point was g&ined there would be yet another step to take. .
