THE BAND'S WANTS.

(TO TBI 1DITOB.) Sir,—Your correspondent "Trumpeter" does not deserve a; reply because of hrt firing from behind the hedge of anonymity, but I will give him one. The Pahtter&on Town Bfrnd wants to stay away from A grade contests until it is fit to make a respectable showing in the test selections. Otherwise they will be a very bad advertisement for tile town. It wants, when it occasionally plays in the Esplanade-on a Sunday afternoon, to havo more than 14 player*, as on the last occasion, and less of the balance apiong the spectators. It wants a different executive to Wbss it haif to assist the Mayor, who has devoted a good deal of time to the band's affairs, under very disheartening conditions and ciri cumstances. badly wants to overhaul ifcj musical and keep it more up-to-date. It waftis, waftfe, to be more grateful to the public for the very liberal monetary assistance- it has given by pitying a good deal more frequently in Eublic without the presence of collection oxes.
