Curwin, who has been in the emiployraent of the dried milk factory for i the past tnrco years, was entertained bv his ; fellow workmen on the occasion of his k-av-i nv-r for the Old Country. Mr N. Bray ! manager of the factory/ on behalf of the staff, _w a neat speech, regretted that Mr . Mr Curwin suitably responded and thanked the donors for their good wishes.
The Ten ins Club held a most successful social on Thursday in aid of the sporting candidate (Mia Millar) for tho carnival. Though tho night was rough there wa6 a attendance. Items were rendered by a number of Palmcrston people, and dancing was indulged until early morn. The gather" ing was a great success, and will greatlv help to place the sporting candidate in a g;>.d position. At tho last meeting of tho Oddfellows, it was decided to ho'd a dnnoe on Julv 1 in aid of tho Friendly Societies' candidate. Mis* Taylor, who will be present. The Oddfellows' dances ore alwave enjovable, and. given fine weather, this should bo a great success.
