EIGHT YEAR-OLD CHILD FOUND IN PITIABLE STATE.

CPU Pum AIIOOUriOR i GISBORNE, June 27. An extraordinary case was reported at the Juvenile Court this morning. The police yesterday apprehended a little girl, eight years of age, who was tramping overland with her father from Auckland. It was stated the pair had tramped from Auckland via Tauranga and were on their way to Waipawa, Hawke's Bay. to the man's brother. They had been sleeping in the open in bitterly cold weather. The child was in a pitiable state, and had been given clothes by settlers. Tho child was arrested for not being under proper control and was committed to a Wellington receiving homo.
