CANADA AND THE HINDUS.
A TICKLISH PROBLEM. (By Euctbic Tiiioiuph-Coftiiohi.j (Pip PEBB Association, i OTTAWA, June 23. The Canadian Government is in receipt of a long telegram from Mr H. H. Stevens, member of Parliament for Vancouver, expressing fear of a serious riot in the city in the event of the H indue on the Komagata Maru being allowed to land,' as the result of an unfavourable finding being Siven by the Court against the action of ie immigration inspector. Mr Stevens fears the citizens will resist the landing of the Hindus in such an event to the extent of bloodshed. He is anxious to get rid of the Hindus by having the Komagata Maru towed out of'the harbour end turned over to a Japanese guard at the three mile limit. Mr Stevens asks the Department to give its complete backing to the inspector in his efforts to get the Hindus out of view. a« there is a por-sibiliy of a long delay if the matter gets to the Courts. VANCOUVER, June 23. A public meeting has been called for Tuesday next, when a proposal will be made to pet subscriptions to charter tugs to tow the Komagata Maru out of the harbour.
