Mr T. A. H. Field, who has an unbeaten record as a Mayor and Councillor, has been unanimously selected as the official Reform candidate to contest the Nelson seat. He also received a largely-signed requisition to stand. —Press Association. Mr James Meehan. of Kawa Kawa road, Feilding, who went Home for a health trip with his wife two months ago, died at Dublin on June 8. Mr Meehan was one of the older settlers in the district, before that being a mounted trooper. He leaves, besides his wife, six daughters and one son. the eldest daughter being in a convent in Melbourne. The death occurred on Tuesday of Mr Henry Condie Wilson, of Lower Hutt, at the age of 78 years. He was at one time partner in the firm of Wilson and Richardson, drapers, Lambton Quay. Deceased, who had been an invalid for some years, leaves a widow, two daughters and six sons. He was a member of the Hutt Bowling Club and had resided at Lower Hutt for eight or nine years. Another veteran died in the Palmerston hospital yesterday, in the person of Mr Charles Edward Nelson Davies, late of the 2nd Battalion 60th Rifles, and Commissariat staff corps. He served in the latter corps through the Waikato Maori war. The funeral will leave the hospital at 2 p.m. on Monday. Major Garner has arranged with the Defence Department to provide a guncarriage and team for the funeral. Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame hold next Friday a grand introductory auction of choice antique and upholstered furniture. in conjunction with Messrs Collinson and Son. No goods have been made for auction, so that quality is first-class throughout. Out-of-town buyers can have their purchases packed free and delivered to Palmerston North station. The goods will be on view on and after Monday, when inspection is invited.--Advt.
