CRIPPS FOUND QUILTY OF MAXSLAUGHTER. "OUGHT NOT TO BE AT LARGE AGAIN." (Pkb Press Association TIMARU, Juno 10. The Orari murder case occupied the Court all day, and the jury after hours' retirement at 10 p.m. returned with a verdict of manslaughter against the young man Cripps, who was charged with causing the death of an old man named Stevenson, whoso body was found among some gorse near Orari. Evidence for the prosecution was the same as at the inquest at:d for the defence, that the blows were dealt i:i selfdefence under provocation and imbecility. Accused Cripps swore that Stevenson struck ln'm first. Four doctors wore called. Two consich rod Criops was an imbecile a::d the other two that ho was a degenerate, hut know right from wrong. Other witnesses stated that Stevenson was cantankerous and difficult to net on with. The Judge, saying Cripps ought not to be nt largo again, sentenced him to hard labour for life.
