ORCHESTRAL CONCERT.
TO-NIGHT'S PROGRAMME
Of the many musical treats provided for Palmerston audiences, perhaps none arc more widely appreciated than the Orchestral Society's concert. For a number of years the Society has played an important part in creating a taste for pood music, and its efforts are always looked forward to with keen interest. Tonight's programme bids fair to equal in merit any that the Society has given previously. The items include the fascinating "Egmont" overture, one of Beethoven's most popular compositions, whilo two new works are introduced in "Pique Dame" (Suppe) and "The Dancing Mistress" (Monckton). Weeks of earnest practice have been put into the numbers, and the Society's patrons to-night are assured of a musical treat. Miss Kearins and Mr E. Short are the soloists of the evening and they have chosen popular numbers. The stage has been tastefully decorated by Messrs Durward and Co., Ltd., for the occasion, and the firm is to bo complimented on its work. Patrons are requested to be in their seats early, as the doors will be closed punctually at 8 o'clock. The ushers are asked to Ik> in attendance at 7.15 p.m.
