MEAT STRIKE OVER.
MEN RESUME ON MONDAY. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Per Press Association.) SYDNEY, March 6. The meat strike has ended and the men resume on Monday. An overwhelming majority at the mass meeting agreed to accept the Premier's proposals. The Union officials said they had been assured that their terms had been agreed to by the employers. The terms of settlement are not available. TERMS OF SETTLEMENT. Received March 7. 9.10 a.m. SYDNEY, March 7. The strike settlement is signed by the Premier, the employers and employees. It provides that work be resumed forthwith on the rates of pay existing on February Ist. The variation of the existing award will bo referred to an expedited award will be referred to an expedited sitting of the Board. The appeal i 8 now before the Board as to whether th« working hours will bo .49 or 50 has been settled forthwith on a basis of 49|. There i* t ••>■ bono victimisation on either side. The union pledges itself to refer all future disputes to an industrial tribunal without cessation of work. Failure to absorb all the labour immediately will not be regarded as a breach of faith on the part of the em plovers. The settlement applies to all allied trades. MELBOURNE, March 7. Tlie agreement between the master butchers and, the men has been signed. It operates on April 9th. IRONWORKERS APPEAL FOR FUNDS. TAKE BALLOT ON ADVISABILITY OF RETURNING. SYDNEY. March 6. Hie only fresh development in the iron trade strike is the issue of an appeal by the Labour Council for financial assistance for 30.000 to 40.000 men, women and children, who will shortly be in need of assistance. A meeting of ironworkers decided to take a ballot as early as possible on the advisability of returning to work. PAINTERS AFTER INCREASES. POSSIBILITY" OF STRIKE. , SYDNEY. March 6.
