THE RADIUM INSTITUTE.
The amount subscribed in aid of the Radium Institute has reached the sum of £2ooo—a very gratifying result, and upon which the towns and districts interested, may be heartily congratulated. The fact that so much money has been raised within such a short period of the initiation of the movement must prove very gratifying to the promoters, while those who have given so freely and so liberally have set a good example to others in the community. There are numerous sources from which donations might very well be expected, and it should be pointed out thatgifts, however small, would be welcomed. Treatment at the Institute will not be confined to a particular class, but will be available for all who need it, no matter what station in life they occupy. This fact, then, should stimulate the workers to contribute as far as their means will permit, and if a subscription list were taken round in each factory, amounts would be forthcoming which would prove welcome additions to the fund. A little self-sacrifioc is all that is needed to enable the bulk of the community to assist, and there should be no hesitation whatever among those in regular employment in making the effort. The cause should appeal to the humanitarian instincts of every individual, since it is being made on behalf of suffering humanity; consequently there should be no hesitation by the public in unloosening its purse-strings. And it is well to remember that "he gives twice who gives quickly."
