LEG SHOW CAUSES RIOT.
SLIT SKIRT AND SOCKS.
(Independent Cable Association.) NEW YORK, Nov. 3. A young woman named Miss Sylvia Pendleton was rceponsible for 5000 millmcn at Duquosne, Pennsylvania, quitting work yesterday, and also for what was a very near approach to ayioti \ Sho appeared in the street in a "very, very" skirt, slashed to the knee, and exposing a considerable length of "leg. She had no stockings on. but wore socks. Whence reached a point alongside the Duquesne plant of the Carnegie Steel Co. all the hands left their work and mobbed Miss Sylvia. They swarmed on to the street, and headed her off, but sho was quite calm and self-possessed, and kept on walking. Eventually the police had to charge the workers and clear the streets. Later on Miss Pendleton Was persuaded io enter the big department stafo owned by Burgess Crawford. Mr (.'rawford saw the leg show from afar off. and remarking "it ii; horrible," bolted into his private office.
