The settlers of Rangiotu last «vening tendered a farewell social to Mr G. Kendall •nd family, prior to their departure to tako up their residence in Palmerston North. Between 20 and 30 Palmerstonians were present at the function, including the Mayor. During the evening Mr Kendall was the recipient of a handsome tea and coffee service from the residents of the district. Mr H. Lyall made the presentation, and spoke of the high esteem in which Mr Kendall had been held by the community at Rangiotu. He voiced the regret felt a*t his departure. The Mayor and Mr G. H. Bennett also spoke, referring to Mr Kendall's many good qualities, and the high regard in which he is held. An excellent musical programme, arranged by Mr A. E. Bonnett, was contributed by the following:— Misses Drew, Archer and V. Kendall. Messrs G.. Kendall, A. E. Bennett, G. H. Bennett, S. Carson, J. Bett and B. Jacobs. Miss Bett played the accompaniments.
