WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. The Prime Minister to-day prosentrcl to the House of Representatives a return of the sheep in tho Dominion up to April 30. 1913. This showa that as compared with 15)12 tho number ci sheep had increased by 441,657 throughout the Dominion. The totals are as follows: 1012. 1913. North Island ... 12.618.089 13,145,445 South Island 11,132.064 11.046.365
Totals ... 23,750,153 24.191.510 North Island net increase, 027.350. South Inland net decrease, 85,699. Dominion increase, 441,057.
The number of sheep in the Dominion is the second highest on record, being: beaten onlv by tho 24,269,620 recorded in 1909. The districts tot sis are as follows : Auckland 1.3-10.318 Napier 5,780.201 Wellington ... 0.024.92(5 Marlborough, Nelson and We*; land 1.298,287 Canterbury 5.193,691 Otago ... ._.; ... 4,554,387 There were 21,527 sheep owners, as against 21.471 last year.
