PUBLIC SERVICE APPEAL BOARD.

Tlie menilfcrs of respective Hoards of Apj)eal iii ejection with the Public Service Aet met in Wellington on tho 29th August and sat until to-day for the purpose of considering matters of procedure in connection with the carrying on of the work of the Board. It was decided that in i=o far as the deification of appeal* is concerned •ittingt of the Board be closed to tho public ami prees, but that members or representatives of Public Service Ik- admitted by ticket. The question of whether copies of answers of the Commissioner he sent to the appellants is to he decided by the Hoard as each cafe arises and when copies are sent appellants will be informed that if they so desire they may appear or be represented by a fel-low-officer before the Board. When appclhntu apply to bo heard by the Board the requests shall bo derided upon their merits.
Cases of appeal under section oG of the Act (relating to questions of nrscondurt. cte.) shall l»e heard with open doors un!< <s in the opinion of the Board circumstances are such as to render an oi>en court undesirable and appellants shall have the right to be represented by counsel or agent. The Hoard, in addition to meeting in Wellington, will hold sittings in Dunedin, Cliristchurch and Auckland and elsewhere as may b« decided u|>on from time to time. Tho Hoard will meet next in Wellington on or about 20th inst. to deal first with the general service appeals and then with those of the Telegraph and Postal Departments.
The order in which apoeals from other districts will be dealt with will Ik> then decided.
