MARKET REPORT. Harry Palmer reports:— We had a very big entry of pigs, principally confined to slips, weaners and stores. The quality was good, and consequently competition wa* teen with improved prices on la<-t week's! quotation. Good porkers were in short supply, the few pens wo had selling parti cularly well. We arc not getting nearly enough good porkers to supply present de mauds, which is a pity in view of the faot that buyers from Wellington and elsewhere are operating here, but cannot get. sufficient numbers to make it worth while, a handful being practically useless 1.0 them. We had a fair average entry of poultry, principally hens. All classes are in keen demand. The lowest price on Saturday for fowls was 4s 6d. Turkeys and geese are inquired for. There is little to report in connection with produce. Supplies are (joining in freely. Potatoes are now at their lowest, and are plentiful for the moment; many growers have shewn an anxiety to unload during the present fortnight.
