FARMERS IN CONFERENCE.
MORE REMITS. (Pes Pbih* Assmcunovy MASTERTON, May 28. The following remits were carried at the Wellington Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union: "That the defence authorities are requested to alter the starting time for daylight parades from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. in dairying districts." "That in country districts the post oflices be not closed for half a day in the week, as at present, and in lieu of a weekly halfholiday, the officials in charge be given an extra 14 days' holiday on full pay.'' "That subsidies for inland mail contracts diould be for quick despatch of mails, and that the mails should in all cases be sent to their destination without delay, t nd have priority over passenger traffic.'' "That it is desirable, in the interests of farmers and workers, reestablish a labour bureau in connection with each centra! branch of the Union.''
"That this conference endorse the meditated action of the county councils in taxing motor cars, and that the moneys raised be spent in the upkeep of the arterial roads, the cars to be taxed by weight." "That this conference strongly urges upon all farmers the necessity of supporting the farmers' cooperative companies.
THE OFFICERS. Mr J. G. Wilson was. elected president; Mr T. Moss, vice-president; Hr N. J. Birch, treasurer; the executive as before, with the addition of Messrs A. D. McLeod (Martinborough) and H. Morison (Greytown), wiiilo Mr T. Hodgins (Pahiatua) was deleted. It was resolved that the next provincial (•inference be hold dt Wanganui.
