Harcourt (secretary of State for the Colonies) has instructed th«Governors to enact regulations to prevent retiring governors or other colonial officials from becoming directors or employees in companies in the colony they have just left, without the new Governor's permission. Mr Haroourt considers the practice objec tionable and impairs the colonial service and reputation for disinterestedness.
