1 JURY FINDS ACCUSED NOT GUILTY. (Peb Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, May 26. The charge of manslaughter was heard at the Supreme Court to-day before Mr Justice Cooper, against Harold Gladstone Brown, in connection with the fight on a pontoon on April 18th, whereby Manuel Santos lost his life. Eye-witnesses described the fight between the men. Accused admitted fighting twice with Santos, the _second time resulting in his death, but disclaimed any intention of killing Santos. His Honor remarked that the evidence seemed to point to tha "fact that tho second assault had been unprovoked. He said that he had no doubt accused had no intention of killing- Santos when he pushed him overboard, but nevertheless tho jury would be justified in finding that pushing Santos into the water had accelerated the latter's death. To accelerate a man's death Was to commit manslaughter. Tho jury, after retirement for an hour and a half,, returned a verdict of not guilty.
