Received March 29. 9.40 a.m. SYDNEY, March 29 Mr Greenwood offers to give £IOOO ti any charity if anyone can disprove his statements regarding his betting, cabled yesterday.
Mr Greenwood's offer is in connection with the running of his horse Valido, at Randwick. Ho stated in a letter to the Sydney Morning Herald that an impression was abroad that he had won u heavy stake with the bookmakers on Valido, which In most emphatically denied. His only investment was £2 10s, and he had, neither directly nor indirectly, any interest in any other wager, nor had he ever made or participated in a bet with a bookmaker exceeding £5 by which ho had benefited Valido won the Flying Handicap at Randwick on Easter Monday, and the Stipendiary Stewards asked for an inquiry into his running on that day as compared with that on the previous Saturday, when Valido finished eighth in the High-weight Handicap, carrying 9.7. In the Flying Handicap, on Monday, Valido had 7.10.
