Mr Fielding, in a letter to the Daily Telegraph, said ho had not. heard and had not. met tho Radicals accused of intriguing to embarrass the Canadian Government. He had not offered any views to English members of Parliament on the naval question.
Mr Fielding, who was Minister for Finance in Mr Wilfrid Laurier's Cabinet in
Canada, and who came to England after the introduction of Mr Borden's Naval Bill, was accused by the Daily Telegraph of intriguing with * Radicals." The Telegraph declared that a considerable body of Radicals were lobbying in the House" of
Commons in the hope of embarrassing the Canadian Government. It added that, not. content with subterranean methods, the lobbyists had interviewed Mr Asquith and Mr Churchill with the object of prevailing upon them to alter their attitude towards Can ida's proposals.
DELHI. Feb. 14. A storm has been raised in the Roman Catholic community throughout India over a Government circular prohibiting the use of the word Catholic in documents as synonymous with Roman Catholic, because the latter's claim to universal Catholicity is disputed by other churches.
