Tho Sydney, Observatory has received a cablo from Kiel, Germany, notifying the discovery of a now and :bright comet,— Cabled item. - At tho police court this morning. Lefore Mr 11. J. Tlayns, J;P., William Coyle was charged with, having, procured liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, and being found drunk. Ho was remanded till Monday next. Georgo Coyle, a second offender; was convicted of having been found drunk, and fined jOs, in default 48 hours': imprisonment. , A first offending inebriate'was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, "Birds of the Water, Wood, and Waste,'' by 11. -Guthrie-Smith. 7s 6d—a charming book of New Zealand birds containing 80 unique photographs from life.
