JOHNSON TO GET £20,000. (Delayed Cable.) NEW YORK, Sept. 1. Joe "Woodman, manager for Sam Lnngford, camo out with a story, today that the coloured heavy-weight had been forced to leave America owinff to there not being any more men for him to fight. "The public," said Woodman, will not pay good money to see Sain hammer second-raters • into submission, but Hugh Mcintosh has mapped out a big programme for him in Australia, "Langiord will have six fights in Sydney apart from a prospective battle with Jack Johnson. He will meet Lang, Lester. MeVea, Bandsman llice, and probably Dave Smith.' "As for the proposed battle with Johnson, we have the word of Mcintosh that he will arrange it. "Johnson has signed a contract with the Australian promoter under which ho is to get £20,000 for three fights, tho probable opponents to bo Langford, Lang and Lester." Lnngford will arrive in Sydney on October 23.
Mr I. J. Fake has been appointed referee for the Wairarapa championships, to be decided at Masterton on September 13 and 14.
