N.Z. NATIONAL SWEET PEA SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of the ]\ T ew Zealand National Sweet Pea Society was held last evening, There were present:—Messrs Goring Johnston (President, chairman), A. C. Bradfield, W. Keeling, F. Mason and ledgers (Palmerston), P. Goldsmith (Levin), Murdock (Napier), Fox (Wellington), Trevethick (Hutt), C. Goodson (Hawera), and E. A. Osmond (secretary, Stratford). The balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £9 13s, was passed. The Society also has in hand trophies to the value of £125. _ For the first year's working this satisfactory financial state of affairs reflects great credit upon the secretary. On a motion by Mr Fox a minute wa6 placed on the books to that effect.

As extra concessions to members it was decided to issue a lady's ticket for one admission only, and to double the entrance fee for non-members in all classes in which trophies of the value of £2O or over were competed for. The different Horticultural Societies in New Zealand arc, to be circularised, stating the advantages that can be gained by affiliating with the N.S.P.S. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Osmond, Fox and Trevethick, was elected for the purpose of drafting rules, which will he submitted to the other members of the committee for approval. The schedule, which was left in the bands of Messrs Osmond. Goodson n and Dr. Carberry to draw un, will also he submitted to the committee. It was decided to include two single variety classes, one for the novice section and one for the amateur, in the schedule. Mi* Goodson promised to donate two prizes, one for each of classes. The following local committee was elected, with iWm- to add to their number—Messrs G. Johnston, Bradfield, Keeling. Mason and Eodgers.
