MOTOR CAR AND MOTOR CYCLE COLLIDE.
PAINFUL, BUT NOT SERIOUS RESULTS.
A motor cycle and a motor car collided at the intersection of Foathcrston and Rangitikei streets yesterday afternoon, with disastrous results. Tho motor cycle was ridden by Mr John T. Robertson, representing Messrs Jos. Nathan and Co.. and in the car was Mr C. Hammond, of Foilding, who had been to Palmerston to see his brother, the well-known aviator, who i« at present, in Nurse Linton s i hospital. Mr Robertson had been en-, paged at tho Show grounds, and was returning home to Feilding, via Feat hereon street, whilst the car, also proceeding to Foilding, was going down Rangitikei street They met and collided at, bhoppard's corner, Mr Robertson was thrown so.no dietanco by the force of the collision. Ho was attended to by Dr Grieg, and taken to Nurse Roby's hospital. Ho is suffering from a scalp wound and severe contusions. Mr C. Hammond was thrown out of the car, right over the wind shield, but escaped uninjured, whilst the driver, Mr S. McKcnzie, Carnarvon, was also unhurt In tho ondeavour lo avoid the collision with the cyclist, tlio car ran into the concrete trough opposite the Family Hotel,- and subsequently had to bo taken to Mr W. M. Bayly's garage for repairs, whilst the motor cycle will have to go into the repair shop. Witnesses of the accident state that neither car nor cyclist were travelling at an unduo speed. T Mr Robertson, who is a son of Mi J. Robertson, Awahuri, is progressing very favourably, and will be about again m a. day or so. .
